Lou DiBella: ?�??�??It?�??�??�s a terrific show, in the big room (Hammerstein) because it deserves to be in the big room. There are great young fighters on the card (Salita, Codrington, Stevens and Figeroa). Because there will be two TV shows, there are very strong fights on this card. These are real fights and terrific match ups. For a local fight card, and four of them could be ESPN main events.?�??�?�

?�??�??Curtis Stevens is in a really good fight against Darnell Boone, a terrific fight. Jaidon Codrington will be fighting Marlon Hayes form Newark, he?�??�??�s also on a win streak. Those bouts could be ESPN main events.

?�??�??In main event Dmitriy Salita will be fighting Grover Wiley from Omaha, and he is best known for retiring Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. It is a real interesting card and a terrific main event. Once again I am proud to present Dmitriy in a main event. Broadway Boxing has become his home base. It?�??�??�s another step toward a major fight, a title fight, hopefully on HBO or Showtime.?�??�?�

Jonathan Thaxton makes the first defence of his British Lightweight Title on the March 16 Hennessy Sports show insisting that the best chapter of his comeback story is still yet to come.

Thaxton faces Stoke?�??�??�s Scott Lawton (20-2-1) in front of his home fans at the Norfolk Showground after his unanimous points win over fellow Hennessy Sports boxer Lee Meager in Dagenham in December.

The 32-year-old shrugged off a nasty cut eye to lift the domestic crown and complete an unlikely return to the top of the British scene after a shoulder injury suffered in a car accident forced him to announce his retirement in 2002.

When British heavyweight titlist Scott Gammer puts his crown on the line this Friday, March 2 against hard punching former champion Danny Williams, it’s sure to be an all-action fight for as long as it lasts but the two men will also be heralding a new initiative in live internet broadcasting.

Hennessy Sports promoted John O?�??�??�Donnell faces Stuart Elwell for the vacant English welterweight title at the Nottingham Arena on March 23rd, glad that someone has at last agreed to box him.

A series of experienced fighters have turned down the chance to face O?�??�??�Donnell, who is becoming arguably the most avoided boxer in Britain.

O?�??�??�Donnell, who has only just turned 21, has a growing army of admirers. He had a stellar junior amateur career, claiming Olympic gold and two ABA titles, and has racked up 14 wins as a professional with his slick southpaw style and machine gun combinations.

O?�??�??�Donnell can now win his first pro title if he defeats fellow unbeaten puncher Elwell on the Hennessy Sports ?�??�??Cobra?�??�??�s Hood?�??�??� event being headlined by British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion Carl Froch.

Promoter Mick Hennessy cannot be accused of over-protecting O?�??�??�Donnell. He has attempted to match the Shepherds Bush boxer with more experienced fighters, only to be presented with a series of excuses.

Five-time world champion and reigning WBA cruiserweight title-holder Virgil “Quicksilver” Hill crosses the Atlantic on Saturday for his March 31st fight against Henry “The Gentleman” Maske, headlining “The Rematch” pay-per-view event, at Olympia Hall in Munich, Germany.

“The Rematch,” promoted by WHS International, will be broadcast live in the United States on cable and satellite pay-per-view starting at 4 PM/ET, 1 PM/PT. The event is being distributed for pay-per-view by Integrated Sports and will be available via iN Demand, DirecTV and TVN for a suggested retail price of only $24.95. In addition to the Hill-Maske 12-round special attraction main event, other broadcast fights on the card will soon be announced.

Hill (50-5, 23 KOs) sent the previously unbeaten IBF light heavyweight title-holder Maske into retirement, registering a 12-round split decision (116-113, 115-113, 112-116) in their unification bout, on November 23, 1996 at Olympia Hall.

Munisteri Sports & Entertainment President Steve Munisteri disputes the story that appeared last week contending that Alexander Povektin was dodging a fight with J.D. Chapman. According to Munisteri, the German Television Network and Sauerland Promotions always wanted David Bostice as the preferred opponent for Alexander Povektin and that they only looked to other opponents when Bostice turned down the fight initially.

Steve Munisteri, President, stated, ?�??�??We were called a couple of months ago and we were told that German TV was so happy with David Bostice?�??�??�s performance against Luan Krasniqui that they would like him to return to Germany to face Alexander Povektin. However, a deal could not be reached at that time because David already had a scheduled fight and the money was not significant enough. It is my understanding it was only at that point that they looked to other opponents such as J.D. Chapman as potential replacements. Read more

Frank Maloney Promotions will stage Ian Napa’s (13-5) challenge of European bantamweight champion Simone Maludrutto (24-1, 10 KOs) on March 9 in London. “Ian has lost some big fights that I thought he won,” said Napa’s trainer Brian Lawrence. “But this time he’s had proper notice and Maludrutto will find out that it’s going to be a very hard fight.”
