MIGUEL COTTO: This is just another fight for me. It’s a fight that Margarito wants to take my title – and that makes it big enough for me. Margarito is a great fighter. James Toney stopped Hasim Rahman in the third round Wednesday after Rahman could not continue because of a cut over his left eye. Rahman was cut after colliding heads with Toney, and referee Ray Corona ended the rematch of former heavyweight champions at Rahman’s request. Read more

On July 16th, 2008, the boxing world will have the rematch of a lifetime - literally. The long-awaited “Last Chance” for Hasim “Rock” Rahman (45-6-3, 36 KOs) to be considered a heavyweight contender as he once again faces the living legend James “Lights Out” Toney (70-6-3, 43 KOs) at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, CA.

The scheduled 12-round NABO Heavyweight Championship Bout — presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions and Don King Productions, in association with Top Rank, Inc. – will see the two fighters meet again after their March 18, 2006 matchup that saw Rahman fight Toney to a draw after 12-rounds in Atlantic City, leaving Rahman retaining the WBC heavyweight title (he then lost the title later that year to Oleg Maskaev). The 2004 Olympic gold medal winner faces “The Bull” in his home city of Chekhov, Russia on Saturday night. Recently I had the great pleasure to speak to former Light Heavyweight Champion Bob Foster. Without question he was one of the greatest Light Heavyweights of all time, and there are those that say he may in fact be the greatest. Foster had limited success as a Heavyweight, but he owned the Light Heavyweight division. He beat Dick Tiger in 1968 for the world title. He was stripped by the WBA of his title in 1971, but kept on defending his WBC portion. In 1972 Foster unified the title, beating Vincente Rondon by a second round KO. Throughout his career he would defend his title fourteen times. He would fight twice for the Heavyweight title, losing to Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. Foster retired in 1974, but came back in 1975 and fought seven more times, winning five. He retired for good in 1978 and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990. Read more

Recently it was my great pleasure to speak with former World Middleweight Champion Vito Antuofermo. Antuofermo was born in Italy, later moving to the United States. Antuofermo was a New York Golden Gloves Champion as an amateur, and won the World Middleweight Championship in 1979 over Hugo Corro. After a defense over Marvin Hagler in a controversial draw, Antuofermo lost the title to Alan Minter by split decision. Antuofermo, known for a tendency to bleed, would also lose rematches later to Hagler and Minter via TKO’S. Well known fighters he would beat included Emile Griffith, Bennie Briscoe, Denny Moyer, Willie Classen and Eckhard Dagge. After a loss in 1985 to Matthew Hilton, Antuofermo retired with a record of 50-7-2.. Read more
