Miguel Cotto retained his WBA welterweight championship with an 11th-round stoppage of Zab Judah in front of 20,000 boxing fans at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. Judah suffered two low blows and a cut to the right eye early in the contest and seemed to struggle from then on. Cotto knocked Judah down with a right hand early in the 11th round, making blood flow from a welt above Judah’s right eye.

Cotto then landed a straight right and followed it with a left. That pushed referee Arthur Mercante Jr. stepped in and hugged Judah, stopping the match for good 49 seconds into the 11th round.
