David Haye has announced his first heavyweight opponent. His trainer and manager Adam Booth today confirmed that the Hayemaker will take on Monte ‘Two Gunz’ Barrett at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday 15th November. Speaking exclusively on Steve Bunce’ Boxing Hour on Setanta Sports News Booth revealed that the deal had been done and described Barrett as a man with “big balls.” “Barrett’s the type of guy who knocks out prospects. But he loses to people like Wladimir Klitschko after seven rounds.

“The one thing about Barrett is he’s got fast hands and he whacks hard. He’s a good mover as well, and when he knocked out Tye Fields a few weeks ago all he could do was scream David’s name.”

Booth added that this was the “fight fans’ fight.”

“If you go on the internet all the fans keep saying is “don’t go for Chapman, don’t fight Maskaev, fight Barrett.”

“I’ve been watching him over the past few weeks and David turned round to me and said “get him, I want to fight him. Do what you have to.

“It’s a good step for David as Barrett poses new problems. He’s a 16 and a half stone man with fast fists and good power.”
