Due to the level of negative feedback from public, media and political sources Braveheart Promotions see no option but to cancel the ‘Evening with Mike Tyson’ that was planned for the 31st of May. Although Mike Tyson is one of the greatest former world champion boxers ever, the furore that has surrounded this troubled athlete’s personal life continues to overshadow his professional accolades..

Braveheart Promotions do not wish to cause distress to any individuals or groups in holding an event which is seen to glorify unfavourable behaviour.

Braveheart Promotions would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all the boxing fans who bought tickets for the evening which was being held to honour Mike Tyson’s sporting achievements.

Braveheart Promotions are proud to present Championship Boxing on the 14th of June at the SECC Glasgow which will feature Scotland’s top boxing talents and we will hold a similar ‘Evening with’ tribute event in Glasgow featuring the UK’s top professional boxers in the very near future, as previously planned.

Braveheart Promoter Barry Hughes said: “It is deeply unfortunate that Tyson’s private life overshadows his career so negatively, but as a company we exist to positively promote our sportsmen and woman and boxing as a sport, and we wish to operate without unnecessarily upsetting anyone. Due to Scotland’s reaction to our plans, the event will no longer go ahead.”
