TONY THOMPSON is seen live SATURDAY, JULY 12 (4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT), from the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, Germany, with a replay later that same day at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The HBO Sports team of Jim Lampley, Larry Merchant and Lennox Lewis will be ringside for the event, which will be available in HDTV, as well as closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired and presented in Spanish on HBO Latino.

Wladimir Klitschko (50-3, 44 KOs), from Kiev, Ukraine, continues his pursuit to the top of the heavyweight division. He scored a unanimous decision victory over Sultan Ibragimov last February to unify two of the world titles in the heavyweight ranks, and now returns to the friendly confines of Germany to face mandatory challenger Tony Thompson.

Washington, D.C., native Thompson (31-1, 19 KOs) is a skilled southpaw who earned his top-rated challenger status with a 26-fight unbeaten streak, and now looks to score one of the biggest upsets in the division in years.

All WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING events are broadcast in HDTV. HBO viewers must have access to the HBO HDTV channel to watch HBO programming in high definition.
